Thanks for that MSZ, yea...at one point I was getting some shared frequencies there so I did a low pass and although it did give some definition, I probably should have gone with another sub or kick on that. With that said, it was only on my monitors that I noticed it. I listened to it on several other reference systems and it actually was alright. This could be chocked up to preference and I got bored of working on it so I just let it pass.

Ok so just starting this track. Full on WIP that is not mixed. Composition is "starting" to take form but percussion quality should probably be ignored due to them being placeholders.
Arrangement is getting there, I am wanting to get some more flow on the filters and for sure need to get a solid lead going.
Concept wise, I am liking it but obviously got a lot of work to do.
I've been finding if I stick to my intuition and scratch a piece before I drag myself on and on "hoping" it will stick, is getting better but, this piece is drawing me in.

does sound pretty nice, got that mau5 vibe going on, would enjoy hearing it mixed with those sexy mids.

And if Joel still lurked on these boards, he’d probably say “Stop” LOL

Redux - Still working it. Composition has been adjusted and arrangement is ongoing. Still want to work in an arp and possibly a lead. Pads need some brightening.Hopefully it's sounding better on your guys end as well

sounds great to me, looking forward to hearing the mixed version, hope you put some weight into the lower mids.

a loop of sort, im not happy with the production finding it hard to improve the overall mix. I havent made a good mix yet in ableton, although I am stuffing it too much with garbage. playing around too much with the master channel.

Didn't get a chance to hear it, sorry about that. I am curious however as "almost" every WIP you post, you yourself do not like. I myself personally have liked your ideas behind your tracks and I also believe that ,THAT is where it starts. I also believe that the point of this thread should still be utilized for those wanting advice on their track. That could mean anwheres between arrangement, composition & production imho
So, I am also curious as to whether you are or not finishing any of these tracks you post because I believe it is important TO do so. Granted, not every track we make gets a green light. I have taken to the 24 hour rule. If it isn't appealing by that time, its gone.
Just curious in support because I know doing this at times can be frustrating at the same time, it HAS to be fun and unrestricted and I worry that you inhibit your creativity

really like that techno fart for the most part, I wouldn't even call it techno, more like good quality trance. when the saws come in it gets quite busy, so after that im not in. maybe more of a short release short decay staccato thingy might work better or a stubby pluck, i dunno.

and to explain, I was using ableton for a few months and yes I was unhappy I couldn't bend the sounds like I did in reason, what you heard were experiments in sound and failed ones, not really track attempts, but trying to get a knack for sound design/mixing.

im currently daw-less, hope to pick up reason again in the holiday maybe. and yes I do need work on my track making skills, micro transitions, builds, things like that for sure, taking the lazy route most of the time, which I do hope to progress at some point. its not a priority right now.

I downloaded a demo of reason the other night, and I am happy with how I bend sound over there. too bad I cant export, re-open saves atm.

I could capture my screen with obs, so there is that. this is a lot closer to the sound im aiming for.

That melody in your video sounds really cool, just work on your dynamics and you can have something really cool man!

Cheers

thanks for the feedback darius, I would love to create something cool one day :}

after playing it back a day or so later, yea its definitely lacking dynamics and a finished sound, kick and bass verry iffy! I've already started working on something that sounds much better I think.
