Good sound selection imo. Obviously needs drumkit, but it's a wip so yeah...
I can hear at the 1:00 mark, the plucks pushing the pad down. Either you have it side-chained, or it's your limiter. Maybe a 5-10% gain reduction on the pads might solve this, and keep them from being as overbearing on the mix.
If you haven't already, might make use of some subtle side-chaining from kick-> pad, so the kick has an easier time cutting through. Might opt for a low attack/release on the sidechain compressor, as to not add any pump to the pad.
It's also a good idea to center your bass. You don't have to, but bass frequencies usually carry much less directional content with them, so panning it to one side or another un-evenly distributes the highest energy carrying frequency (uses up more of one channel's headroom) with no real benefit. It also sounds a bit unbalanced in my headphones. (more ok on desktop speakers)
-edit- Listening through a second time, I can hear that it starts off centered and gets panned left. To me it sounds weird. But I guess I can understand what you were goin' for.
Great start imo. Melodic content is pretty neutral around the 1:20 -> 2:20 mark though, and I feel it would benefit from some more progression there.
Startin' to dig your more recent vibes. Gl man. |
Hey, thanks dude! Thanks for analysis and advices, i've noticed the bass, was experimenting with widening filter but i will turn that off probably. Did some sidechaning on pad, i will adjust it more to make some more space for kick. And i agree that it need more subtle progression in 1:20-2:20 mark. Thanks again for listening. Glad you like it!
