I would say that the slow, pounding rhythm and dark procession are powerful elements that create a sense of grandeur, drama, and intensity in the music. While Respighi's "The Dream of Solomon" and Poledouris's "Wheel of Pain" share this common rhythmic foundation, the differences in instrumentation, tone, and stylistic nuances of course contribute to the unique character of each piece. Not sure if this has already been covered in this thread, but while definitely not a ripoff, Fictivision & C-Quence - Symbols does sound like a overly simplified version of Snowdome - Murdoch Most Foul.
