yeah i like this track, nice vibe - i would prefer the kick to have more thump and cut some of the bass instead, also i would bring the clap up a bit more
my 2c
cheers man, was thinking that about the bass drum, it's going to involve some complex routing to get it back to being chunky as it's existing in the attack of the master compressor (hence lack of tail)
will give it a go tonight
cheers

getafix - sounds well-produced to me, good quality sounds and a nice mixdown; works well. I might try it a little faster maybe, just to bring the groove together a little more

cool, im not sure what compressor your using but you could try increasing the attack which should let more of the kick through before the compressor clamps down on the mix
my preference would be to cut some more low end from the bass to leave more space for the low end of the kick but we all have our own methods

Thanks evo8 - you're absolutely right, music is amazing in tough times.. can help get the emotion out of you.
here's a version that has the correct final structure (I'm going to have to do a club mix without intro) and with the vast majority of compression issues fixed:
think it sounds pretty good
Really nice, digging it!. I agree the kick could use a little more low end thump. Btw what are you using for the piano & vocoder?

Thanks! It's at 128 right now, i'll try & speed it up to 130ish & see how it sounds.
track of how I feel at the moment. I've kinda abused compressor in this, and reverb.. would be interesting to hear what you think..
Have added a bit of thump to the bass drum, and there is a new very subtle tonal element in there too- let me know what you think
Cheers

Never heard a mixture of anything like this which could be good or not. At first it sounds like some sci fi space age ambience with pads and nice strings, then the piano comes and turns everything around. The kick sounds like a deadmouse kick from faxing berlin, quite identical. The vocals feels a bit vocoded and gives also different vibe. So its alright to me. The mixture of elements is new but necessary is what i leave up to you.

Toby let do this, we may have to go back and forth for me to better articulate what I'm trying to say
First at all -> this clap right from the beginning (1:24) is loosing this track momentum (atmospheric vibe) but I love this piano which is coming at the same time.
Second -> is this break/no drums part at 2:47-3:01 - for me right after you establish some nice flowing drums rhythm you right away introducing this mini-beak and let melodic vibe change overall perception of this nostalgic part you created so far.
So lets start with that and we we see where we can take this WIP my friend - very cleaver, memorable and touching work man, love it !!!!

cheers matey,
I think I'll work on the claps a little when i get a bit of time, there is something not quite right about them, you're right
I'm going to do a slightly shorter version without the breaks and with a much more conventional intro - a classic club mix - will pare it down to it's most groovy I think
cheers for the advice matey
